Returning to a live setting, following last years 'online contest', this years Riverside Youth Band Solo Contest was held today, Saturday 2nd April, at Port Glasgow Salvation Army Hall.
The contest is split into 3 categories - Juniors, Intermediates and Seniors. The Contest isn't just based on the age of the soloists, but the standard of the piece that has been chosen by each of the soloists. The adjudicator for this year was Alan Fernie.
This year was the first year that our Solo Horn player, Andrea Crumlish, was competing in the Senior Section, along with five other soloists within the section - unfortunately Covid still had a say, with one soloist having to withdraw. We wish them a speedy recovery!
Following all 6 performances, Andrea came out on top and was named the winner of the Senior Section with her rendition of 'Variations on a Welsh Theme'.
